Fenerbahçe’s Yamaç Yüksel Named Paralympic Athlete of the Year at Aydınlık Gelecek Awards | HDI Sigorta & Fenerbahçe Wheelchair Basketball

ISTANBUL, March 8, 2026 – Fenerbahçe Engelli Basketbol (Wheelchair Basketball) Team player Yamaç Yüksel has been honored as the “HDI Sigorta Paralympian of the Year” at the Fenerbahçe Sports Club’s Aydınlık Gelecek (Bright Future) Awards. The recognition highlights Yüksel’s contributions to the sport and acknowledges the ongoing support of HDI Sigorta for para-athletics in Turkey.

HDI Sigorta, a long-time supporter of Fenerbahçe Engelli Basketbol, served as the title sponsor for the “Paralympian of the Year” category at the Aydınlık Gelecek Awards. The “HDI Sigorta Paralympian of the Year” award was presented to Yüksel during a ceremony organized by 1907 ÜNİFEB and ÜNİFEB Graduates Association. HDI Sigorta General Manager Firuzan İşcan presented the award to Yüksel.

İşcan emphasized HDI Sigorta’s belief in the unifying power of sports and its role in societal transformation, stating the company is committed to fostering sustainable collaborations across various disciplines. “As HDI Sigorta, we believe in the unifying power of sports and its role in social transformation, and we realize sustainable collaborations in different branches,” İşcan said during the awards ceremony. “We attach importance to standing by disadvantaged groups to strengthen social equality.”

The company’s dedication to Fenerbahçe Engelli Basketbol extends back to the 2020-2021 season, when HDI Sigorta became the sponsor of the Fenerbahçe Wheelchair Basketball Team. This marks the sixth consecutive season of sponsorship. İşcan expressed pride in the team’s achievements and reaffirmed HDI Sigorta’s commitment to supporting both the team and its athletes. “We are very happy to support Fenerbahçe Engelli Basketbol Team. We have been the sponsor of Fenerbahçe Wheelchair Basketball Team since the 2020-2021 season. This is our sixth season together. We are proud of the success of our young athletes. We will continue to support our teams and athletes with sponsorship support.”

The Aydınlık Gelecek Awards, held at the Caddebostan Cultural Center, recognized achievements across 16 categories. This isn’t the first time Yüksel has received this honor; he was also named “HDI Sigorta Paralympian of the Year” in 2023, demonstrating consistent excellence in his athletic career.

HDI Sigorta’s broader approach extends beyond sports, encompassing collaborations in the arts and social benefit initiatives, all aimed at supporting sustainable success, youth development, and community contribution. The company views its sponsorships as a way to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society.

Yamaç Yüksel’s recognition as Paralympian of the Year underscores the growing prominence of para-sports in Turkey and the importance of corporate support in enabling athletes to reach their full potential. The award serves as an inspiration for aspiring athletes and a testament to the power of sport to overcome challenges.

Fenerbahçe Sports Club’s Aydınlık Gelecek Awards aim to celebrate individuals and organizations making significant contributions to the community. By spotlighting achievements in sports, arts, and social responsibility, the awards promote positive values and inspire future generations.
