TV Bensheim Weekend Results: Close Matches & Youth Team Victory | Badminton News

Bensheim, Germany – The TV Bensheim badminton club experienced a challenging weekend across its various teams, with several divisions facing defeats despite numerous closely contested matches. While the results didn’t always favor the club, the competitive spirit and tight scores indicate a promising trajectory for the remainder of the season.

The TV Bensheim II squad in the Verbandsliga faced a particularly demanding schedule, playing two matches over the weekend. Saturday saw them pitted against TuS Schwanheim III, and Sunday brought a contest against ABC Frankfurt. Both encounters resulted in losses for the team, but not without a strong showing of resilience and skill.

Second Team Battles in Verbandsliga

Saturday’s match against TuS Schwanheim III began with a hard-fought first men’s doubles match. Marcel Thöne and Matthias Strauß secured the first game 21-17, but their opponents responded strongly, taking the next two games 21-11 and 21-18. Unfortunately for TV Bensheim, the remaining doubles matches also went in favor of Schwanheim.

The first men’s singles match proved to be a highlight, with Max Weber engaging in a thrilling contest. Weber lost a close first set 22-24, but rebounded impressively to dominate the second set 21-14. Despite his efforts, he ultimately fell in the third set 9-21. A glimmer of success came in the mixed doubles, where Marcel Thöne and Constanze Ernst secured the only point of the evening for TV Bensheim, winning 21-19 and 22-20. The final scoreline reflected the tough day: a 1-7 defeat.

Sunday’s match against ABC Frankfurt presented similar challenges. Again, the doubles pairings struggled to secure points. However, Max Weber once again demonstrated his competitive edge in the first men’s singles. He convincingly won the first set 21-8, and continued his strong performance, taking the second set 22-20 after a prolonged battle. Pranav Vishnu contributed a valuable second point in the second men’s singles. After losing the first set 15-21, Vishnu fought back to win 21-17 and narrowly clinched the third set 21-19. Despite these individual victories, the team ultimately suffered a 2-6 loss.

Mixed Results in Lower Divisions

The challenges weren’t limited to the second team. In the Bezirksoberliga, the fourth team faced SG Ried Lampertheim/Groß-Rohrheim and were defeated 3-5. A closely contested women’s doubles match saw Elisa Scheele and Brit Köhler win the first set 26-24, before ultimately losing the match 17-21 in the second set and 18-21 in the third. A strong performance came from Christian Scheele and Holm Köhler in the second men’s doubles, overcoming a first-set loss of 8-21 to win the next two sets 21-9 and 21-19. Boris Rothermel also secured a win in the third men’s singles, prevailing in three sets with scores of 21-19, 12-21, and 21-7.

The fifth team, competing in the Bezirksliga A, lost 3-5 to SG Reinheim/Zeilhard II. Mareike Mühlum and Chatrawee Scheiger secured a point in the women’s doubles with a 21-8 and 21-18 victory. Chatrawee Scheiger also won her women’s singles match decisively, 21-11 and 21-7. Marco Keller added another point in the second men’s singles, winning a close match 21-19 and 21-17.

The seventh team, in the Bezirksliga C, struggled against SG Reinheim/Zeilhard III, losing 1-7. The only point for TV Bensheim came from Robert Junghans and Louis Frimmel in the second men’s doubles, winning 22-20 and 21-17. Several matches were incredibly close, including the women’s doubles with Svenja Weidmann and Elsa Vierneisel (23-21, 15-21, 14-21) and the women’s singles featuring Svenja Weidmann (21-15, 18-21, 19-21).

Youth Teams Show Promise

There was brighter news from the youth divisions. The youth team secured a 6-2 victory over TV Dieburg/Groß-Zimmern, winning all three doubles matches. Franziska Ackermann dominated in the women’s singles, winning 21-9 and 21-11, while Julius Kolbe also contributed a win in the third men’s singles with scores of 21-6 and 21-14. The mini-team, however, suffered a 0-6 defeat to BV Lampertheim, although Sahana Vishnu and Yoshita Vadlamudi put up a strong fight in their individual matches, losing narrowly in the third set. The Schüler-Mini-Mannschaft also found success, winning 4-2 against TSV RW Auerbach, with Gilbert Walter delivering a particularly impressive performance in his singles match, winning 21-5 and 21-7.

Despite the mixed results, the weekend showcased the depth of talent within the TV Bensheim club. The numerous close matches demonstrate the team’s competitive spirit and potential for future success. The club now looks ahead, aiming to convert these close contests into victories.
