Zapletalá Wins World Indoor Athletics – European Champion Defeated

Slovak Sportswoman of the Year 2025 Emma Zapletalová achieved another success in her fourth start this year.

At the event in Lievin, France, which according to evaluations of the past years is the best indoor meeting in the world, she won the 400 meters with a time of 51.40 seconds.

In the end, she got ahead of the reigning European champion Lieke Klaverová from the Netherlands. Ireland’s Sharlene Mawdsley finished third.

I’m also glad that I managed to stick to the race plan, although my coach and I decided that there were details that could have been even better – maybe I should have run into the final lap in first place, but I went according to plan to finish second behind Lieke and overtake her at the end,” Zapletalová told TOP Athletics.
