Le Terton Football Clubalso known as or Terton FC and formerly under that of Tertons FCis a Bhutanese football club based in Thimphu, capital of the country, founded in 2014.
In 2015, the club won the Bhutanese domestic championship for the first and only time in its history, and went on to represent the country in the AFC Champions League 2.
The club currently plays in the Bhutan Super League, the second division of professional football in the country.
Terton FC made its debut in the Thimphu regional league in 2015. For its first season, the club won the championship with three points ahead of its runner-up, Thimphu FC. The players only lost twice, during the second day which ended with a 5-3 defeat against Druk Star FC and during a 3-1 defeat against Thimphu FC on the eleventh day of the championship. Winner of the championship, Terton FC pockets the first prize of 400,000 ngultrum and obtains qualification for the 2015 Bhutan national championship, this is the first season of the capital club in the elite.[1]
The club opens its season in the Bhutanese national championship with a 1-1 draw against Thimphu City FC. The championship is particularly contested, on the eve of the last championship match, the three teams at the top of the championship, those from the capital, are only separated by 3 points. Thimphu City FC are in first place with 20 points, Terton FC are second with 19 points and Thimphu FC are third with 18 points, so the final day of the championship will decide which team from the capital will take the league title. Thimphu FC beats the bottom of the championship, Paro United, 5-0 and is therefore provisionally leader, but is not able to win the championship due to its too low goal difference. Terton FC faces championship leader Thimphu City FC in a match that will decide the winner of the championship. The white and black club won with a score of 4-2 and thus won the championship, they also pocketed the first prize of 10 million ngultrum and qualified for the qualifying phases for the 2017 AFC Cup.
Saison 2016
The club begins this season with a partly renewed squad, in particular with the presence of its new right back, hopeful of Bhutanese football and young player of the national team, Nima Wangdi.
In 2016, Terton FC plays the qualifying phases for the 2017 AFC Cup due to its title of champion of Bhutan 2015. The club from the capital will inherit group C also composed of Sheikh Russel KC, vice-champion of Bangladesh, and Tatung FC, champion of Taiwan. The Bhutanese club will first face Tatung FC on August 21, 2016, a match which ended in a 0-0 draw. The Taiwan club will subsequently draw 1-1 against Sheikh Russel KC, placing them temporarily in first position in the group. On August 25, Terton FC faced the Bengali club to try to qualify for the preliminary round of the 2017 AFC Cup. In an intense match, they won 4-3 and snatched first place, qualifying for the first continental competition in its history.[2]
The club sported a first logo, from its creation in 2014 until 2018, before changing its logo in 2018.
