Yann Schrub: French 3000m Record Broken

The European vice-champion in the 10,000 m Yann Schrub beat the French 3,000 m record on Saturday February 7 in Metz in 7 min 29 sec 32/100, lowering Jimmy Gressier’s old record by almost a second. At home in Metz, in front of many of his loved ones in the stands, Schrub raced alone in the lead with the hares and never caused any concern. “I was lucky to have medals, but I had never had a (French) record,” rejoiced the Mosellan, European vice-champion in the 10,000 m in 2024 and European cross-country champion in 2023. “It was a race for me, with the times that I wanted, with the hares that I wanted, with the public that I wanted,” added Schrub, who broke the record which Jimmy Gressier had held since last winter (7:30.18). Schrub also won the minimums for the indoor World Championships in Torun (Poland) in March.
