Erik ten Hag and the FC Twente scouting team watched a Shola Shoretire match live. The Englishman is playing on loan at PEC Zwolle this season and has just become the Eredivisie’s talent of the month for January. The player is rented from the Greek PAOK Saloniki. Ten Hag knows the winger from his time at Manchester United.
Shoretire is of important value to the people of Zwolle this season. He scored five goals and provided one assist in eighteen games. Coincidentally, he scored one of those goals in the recent meeting with FC Twente. That match ended 1-1. In the meantime, FC Twente’s scouting recently took a look at the player. This is reported by the usually reliable Tys.
The player was reportedly offered several times by FC Twente. The 22-year-old left winger started his career at the amateur club Wallsend Boys Club. Through the youth academies of Newcastle United and Manchester City, he signed with the Manchester United academy. He played there between 2014 and 2024. Shoretire played five games in the first team. Shoretire is the youngest ever debutant for Manchester United in the Europa League. In the 2022-2023 season he was loaned to Bolton Wanderers, and in 2024 he made the permanent switch to Greece. In total he played 28 games for PAOK, scoring four goals.
This season the attacker is playing on a rental basis for PEC Zwolle. FC Twente will probably look for a new winger in the summer, and would keep an eye on Shoretire. The Englishman has a contract with PAOK until mid-2028 and a market value of two million euros.
