Lyon scored a 12th success in a row in Nantes this Saturday, against the Canaries who are sinking a little further towards Ligue 2.
And 12. Winners in Nantes (0-1) thanks to a goal from Pavel Sulc this Saturday, during the 21st day of Ligue 1, the Lyonnais scored a 12th victory in all competitions. A success which allows them to climb, at least temporarily, to third place in the ranking. And this with three points ahead of OM, who will challenge their best enemy Parisian on Sunday. The Canaries, for their part, occupy the unenviable position of roadblockers. They are under threat from Auxerre, 17th, who will play on Sunday.
Facing Nantes who hit Dominik Grief’s posts three times, the Gones suffered at times, notably after the exclusion of Endrick. The Brazilian star on loan from Real Madrid received a direct red card on the hour mark for an intentional kick on the back of the ankle of Dehmaine Tabibou, who was injured after this gesture. Subjected to muscular treatment from the Nantes defense, the Lyon No.9, warned from the first moments of the match for a gesture of humor, first received a second yellow before referee Mathieu Vernice viewed the images and transformed it into a direct red.

10th of Sulc
Until then, Lyon had rather dominated the match, demonstrating superior technique and a better controlled game plan, but with a lack of edge in the last 20 meters. Alfonso Moreira made Anthony Lopes shine, author of a nice reflex with the tip of his foot on a crushed shot from the winger (19th), before the goalkeeper also intervened on a close attempt from Endrick (27th). But between the two, OL found the fault in an almost innocuous action, Pavel Sulc having the good reflex to extend his foot to deflect a low cross from Moreira out of reach of Lopes (0-1, 25th).
Opposite Nantes, had bad luck. From the 8th minute, Mohamed Kaba, one of the Canaries’ winter recruits, found the outside of the post with a curling shot from the edge of the area.
In the second half, the entry into play of Youssef El Arabi in place of a transparent Mostafa Mohamed created a bond up front. The Moroccan found himself, in the 51st minute, at the launch, at the relay and at the conclusion of a nice movement, but his uncrossed header bounced on the inside of the post to return to the arms of Dominik Greif who had not moved. In added time, it was a shot from Herba Guirassy, deflected by Matthis Abline, who completely wrong-footed the Slovak, happy to see the ball pushed back by his right post.
But Lyon has not just scored a 12th victory in a row, in all competitions, for no reason. The culture of winning — sometimes accompanied by a certain dose of cunning — of this team opens up very interesting prospects for this end of the season.
