Regragui Resignation: Morocco Federation Denies Reports

Three weeks after the African Cup of Nations final lost by Morocco to Senegal (0-1), the coach of the Atlas Lions reportedly resigned.

Walid Regragui on the move? Several weeks after Morocco’s failure in the final of “its” African Cup of Nations against Senegal – after a chaotic match -, the coach of the Atlas Lions, in office since 2022, would have resigned according to information from Foot Market.

News that has the gift of surprising, less than six months before the 2026 World Cup, where Achraf Hakimi’s teammates will certainly be keen to repeat their feat achieved in Qatar four years ago (first African team to have reached the last four of a World Cup).

The federation denies any departure

Information denied a few hours later by the Moroccan federation: “The Royal Moroccan Football Federation categorically denies the information circulating in certain media concerning the resignation of the national team coach, Mr. Walid Regragui”we can read in a press release.

For their part, our colleagues from RMC Sport claim that Regragui expressed his desire to leave with his federation, without mentioning resignation. The latter would have offers in Saudi Arabia, in Saudi Pro League clubs. The next few days should allow us to see things more clearly.
