The Blues are in danger. After the first three events, the French figure skating team is only in sixth position in the team event at the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina. Title holders and favorites to succeed themselves, the United States took the lead, ahead of Japan and Italy.
The first French representatives to take the stage, Guillaume Cizeron and Laurence Fournier Beaudry offered France nine points by taking second position in the rhythm dance. On Madonna’s famous hit “Vogue”, the French duo obtained 89.98 points, beating their season record. A score which, however, was not enough to put them in the lead, since they were ahead of a little more than a point by the Americans Madison Chock and Evan Bates (91.06 pts).

In the couples category, Pavel and Camille Kovalev then set off, taking seventh place with 63.72 points. Then Lorine Schild achieved the same ranking among the women (62.24 pts), placing France in 6th place overall after this first day, two points from Canada and three from Georgia.
Kevin Aymoz to save the Blues
The team competition kicks off the skating events at the Olympics. It takes place over three days and pits ten national teams against each other. All skate four short programs, in the men’s, women’s, couples and ice dance categories, but only the top five qualify for the free programs. To establish the ranking, after each event, ten points are awarded to the best scored, nine to the second, eight to the third, and so on.
At the end of the first three events and before the men’s entry into the competition on Saturday, France therefore has 17 points, which places it in sixth provisional position, two points from the fifth and last qualifying place occupied by the Canadians. Kevin Aymoz, who remains after a failed European Championships, will defend the chances of the Blues during the last short program on Saturday. Free programs are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
After the end of the team competition, the individual events will begin on Monday with ice dancing, where Cizeron and Fournier Beaudry are attempting the crazy bet of winning Olympic gold even though they have been skating together for barely a year.
