Reggio Calabria is preparing to experience a day of great sport and entertainment with the 2026 Draft of the Jr. NBA Fip School League, scheduled for Saturday 7 February, from 4 to 6 pm, at PalaCalafiore.
An eagerly awaited and highly symbolic event which marks the official start of the sporting journey of the schools and clubs involved in the prestigious national project.
The event, organized by Fip Calabria as part of the Jr. NBA Junior League, fully reflects the atmosphere of real NBA Drafts: schools and sports clubs will be called one at a time, accompanied by the screening of videos and images representative of their respective realities, to officially receive the pairing with an NBA franchise.
The heart of the event will be the delivery ceremony of the original NBA uniforms, intended both for the schools participating in the project and for the sports clubs involved in the federal championships. The uniforms will then be used in the regional final in May, which will decide the protagonist teams of the “Nba Junior League 2026” national tournament, one of the most important events in the Italian school basketball scene.
There is also great anticipation for the show of the FlyZone team, made up of professional dunkers and acrobats, who with dunks and high-adrenaline tricks will transform the PalaCalafiore into a real NBA stage, involving the public and young athletes.
For the Facolmatà-Archi comprehensive institute of Reggio Calabria, the draft represents a key step in a broader path: starting from mid-February and until April, in fact, an internal institute tournament will take place, at the end of which 12 student-athletes will be selected who will form the official team for the regional phase.
The team will be made up of 6 Fip members and 6 non-members, also including students from other sports federations or young people who, despite not practicing sports at a competitive level, demonstrate strong athletic qualities.
A project that goes beyond competition and confirms the educational value of sport as a tool for inclusion, growth and valorization of talents. The 2026 draft will not just be a ceremony, but the beginning of an educational and sporting experience that will lead the kids to live the NBA dream as protagonists… starting from school.
