In a recent press conference (February 5), Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior claimed that Arsenal had violated basic rules of conduct and disrespected their opponents before the match had even started.
Previously, leaked footage from Emirates Stadium showed Rosenior losing his temper and repeatedly shouting: “Stay in your own field!”
Although the cameras did not capture the target of these harsh words, after Chelsea was eliminated with an aggregate score of 2-4, coach Rosenior clarified the situation.
He stressed that the anger was not directed towards the Arsenal players but towards Mikel Arteta’s coaching staff.
According to coach Rosenior, the Arsenal coaching staff broke into Chelsea’s warm-up area, directly affecting the preparation of Chelsea players.
“In football there are certain rules of conduct. I have never allowed my assistants to invade the opponent’s area. I may have asked it a little rudely, but it is a matter of respect. I don’t like to play with my mind. I simply do what I think is right,” Rosenior shared before the weekend’s Premier League match.
Although he expressed deep respect for the talent of his colleague Mikel Arteta, Rosenior could not hide his disappointment, stating that his team did not receive even the minimum level of respect from the home team, Arsenal, at the time.
Adding to the controversies, Chelsea are also facing a difficult personnel issue ahead of their away game against Wolves. Specifically, key players such as Reece James and Pedro Neto remain doubtful and must await the results of last-minute medical tests.
Even more worrying is the fact that it has been confirmed that winger Jamie Gittens has suffered a serious hamstring injury and will be out for an extended period. Rosenior admitted that this is a big loss for Chelsea’s attack during the crucial approaching phase of the season.
