The Lonzo Ball trade comes a day after the Jazz made a major trade to acquire Jaren Jackson Jr.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to trade Lonzo Ball and two second-round draft picks to the Utah Jazz, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Ball’s agent, Rich Paul, and the Jazz are expected to discuss his future soon, according to the same sources.
Utah agreed to another trade on Wednesday, sending center Jock Landale to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for financial compensation, as reported by Charania.
The transfers of Ball and Landale came a day after Utah made a major trade to acquire Jaren Jackson Jr. in an eight-player deal with the Memphis Grizzlies. Landale was traded from Memphis to Utah as part of that deal.
Ball made an unprecedented comeback after undergoing three arthroscopic knee surgeries last season, playing his first NBA game in more than 1,000 days in October 2024. After a streak of strong performances, Ball was rewarded with a contract extension by the Chicago Bulls and was subsequently traded to the Cavaliers over the summer in exchange for Isaac Okoro.
However, Ball, 28, has struggled in Cleveland, averaging a career-low 4.6 points per game, shooting 30% from the field and less than 30% from 3-point range. He has a $10 million contract for next season before becoming a free agent in the summer of 2027.
