The autumn vice-champion of the Nike League DAC Dunajská Streda was strengthened by the Slovak representative Matúš Kmeť. The 25-year-old right back or midfielder comes from the American Minnesota United on loan until the end of the season with the option of a permanent transfer.
Calzona made his debut last year
Kmeť worked in Slovakia in Ružomberok and Trenčín, during six seasons he played 124 league matches. In the summer of 2024, he transferred to Minnesota, but never played in the overseas MLS. He spent the whole of last year on loan in Polish Górnik Zabrze, making 23 league starts.
He also appears in the nominations of the Italian coach of the Slovak football team Francesco Calzona, he made his debut last June in the preparatory meeting with Israel.

“My goals are the highest they can be in Dunajská Streda. The club has a very well-started season, the goal will be to follow up on a successful autumn. I am coming back to Slovakia with great motivation, I am looking forward to a new challenge.

I always considered Dunajská Streda to be a strong opponent, it was very difficult to play at their stadium. The atmosphere in the MOL Arena is one of the best in the league, which I always felt as an opponent.
I am glad that I will be able to experience it from the opposite side. My goal is to acclimatize in the team as quickly as possible, play as many matches as possible and transfer my form to the pitch,” said Kmeť for the DAC club website.

After the fall, Dunajská Streda is in 2nd place in the Nike League, one point behind Slovan Bratislava, which they will welcome in the opening match of the spring season already on Saturday from 18.00 (broadcast by Dajto and Voyo).

“We have known Matúš for a long time and he fits the profile of a player who can immediately bring us the quality and necessary width of the squad in the spring part of the season. He knows the Slovak league very well, has international experience and offers us flexibility on the right side of the defense and in the midfield.
Hosting with the option to transfer is a logical solution for both parties at this moment. We expect that he will adapt quickly and help the team directly on the pitch.” said DAC Executive Director Jan Van Daele.
The clubs did not inform about the amount of the transfer option. According to the specialized portal Transfermarkt, the estate is worth 700,000 euros. He has a contract with Minnesota only until the end of the calendar year.
