Gerald Alders finishes the season at Telstar. The talented defender (20) is stationed by Ajax in Velsen-Zuid, where he can make flying hours.
Alders is loaned out for six months to Telstar, which has not agreed to a purchase option with Ajax. The wing defender played three Eredivisie matches for the Amsterdam team this season. He also played nine games for Jong Ajax in the Kitchen Champion Division, four of which as captain.
Ajax considers it important for his development that Alders gains experience at the highest level. The four-time international of the Dutch O19 team already played for FC Twente on a rental basis for six months last season. Due to a meniscus injury, Alders only played three games in Enschede.
Alders joined Ajax’s youth academy in 2014. Former coach Francesco Farioli let him join the main squad last season. Under John Heitinga, Alders made his official debut in Ajax 1 earlier this season. After Gastón Ávila, Branco van den Boomen and Charlie Setford, he is the fourth Ajax player to leave the club on loan.
