The winner of the 2025 “Cēsis” rally, Karl Martins Volver (Skoda Fabia Proto), won a convincing victory in the “Alūksne” rally, ahead of his closest follower, Pole Aron Domžal, by more than a minute. However, after six stages, Wolver lost to the then leader Mārtiņš Seskas. When Cesc retired, Wolves took the lead, which was protected until the end.
In the interview, the athlete praised Seska.
“Overall, this was a very, very good rally for us. Of course, it’s a pity that Cesk retired, but unfortunately it happens. But in any case, he is a rider of another level. All we have to do is practice, practice and improve our performance. But we know where we need to improve our performance. In general, we are satisfied with the Alūksne rally and the achieved result,” portal Go4speed tells Carl Martin Wolverwho had the second overall victory in his career (both victories in Latvian rallies).

This was Volver’s debut rally with “Toyota GR Yaris Rally2”. The 26-year-old athlete admits that he still has a lot to learn. “Yes, this was our first rally with this new car, so, of course, we have to drive many, many more kilometers with it in order to be able to drive much faster, but the collaboration with the new car and the driver at the moment went very well, there is nothing to complain about. Yes, there were some moments, but I think all the drivers had those moments. But we drove without any risk, we drove at our own pace, which we did not break.”

Wolver made his debut in the big rally in Alūksne, so this rally is very special for him. “The roads, as always, were nice, the weather was perfect, that’s why I always like the roads of the Alūksne rally (this was Volver’s fourth Alūksne rally – aut.). There are both fast and flowing roads, and there are also slower and narrower sections with invisible bends. Everything a rider needs is here. Since I started rallying, my first big rally was in Alūksne, so this is a special place for me. To win this rally is like a dream come true, amazing.”

When asked about his plans for this season, Wolver revealed that “The plan is to spend a full season in Estonia with a Rally2 car, but nothing is 100% certain yet. We will start in Latvia with our Škoda Fabia Proto car, but if we have the necessary budget, it is not excluded that we will hold another rally in Latvia with a Rally2 car to accumulate kilometers.”
