Van Persie Praised at Feyenoord: Impact & Appreciation

Feyenoord striker Shaqueel van Persie made himself heard on Saturday for the first time since he suffered a knee injury in the match against Real Betis (2-1). The nineteen-year-old attacker’s injury is less serious than expected.

“I would like to thank everyone for all the messages sent to me and my family, it is really appreciated,” Van Persie wrote on Instagram on Saturday evening. ‘I hope to be back soon and will be working hard on my rehabilitation.’

Earlier on Saturday evening it became clear that the injury Van Persie sustained on Thursday was less serious than initially feared. The striker does not need to undergo surgery and has already started his rehabilitation. According to Feyenoord, there is a ‘real’ chance that he can still make minutes this season.

Van Persie has been one of the bright spots at Feyenoord in recent weeks. At the beginning of this month he scored his first two goals in the main squad against Sparta Rotterdam. He also showed himself against Betis: with a nice pass he played an important role in Casper Tengstedt’s 2-1.
