After going to São Paulo for a meeting with a bank that will audit the contribution he intends to make in Botafogo, John Textor returned to Rio de Janeiro and spent part of Saturday packing at the Nilton Santos Stadium.
According to journalist Igor Siqueira, from “UOL”, the North American businessman called important figures in SAF looking for support, but there is a feeling of discredit towards him.
John Textor did not find support to make some decisions, and SAF leaders see that promises were not fulfilled. There is still fear that Botafogo will suffer more transfer bans from FIFA.
The club, at the moment, remains prohibited from registering new players due to the debt owed to Atlanta United by Thiago Almada. Textor stated that he was ready to pay the debt out of his own pocket, asked for approval from the associative club and then said that the transfer ban was “resolved”.
John Textor spent part of the day in the office at Nilton Santos. He called relevant figures in the SAF structure for support. But there is a feeling of distrust towards him given Botafogo’s financial crisis, unfulfilled promises and the risk of new transfer bans.
