Corinthians-Alisson-São Paulo: Transfer Talks Breakdown

The board of Corinthians contacted Alisson to apologize after the failed negotiation with the São Paulo. The club understood that the failure of the operation exposed the athlete, which became the target of criticism from tricolor fans.

As found out by the Sports GazetteTimão’s football executive, Marcelo Paz, sought out the player to apologize after the negotiations ended. Alisson understood the situation and saw it as something ‘common in football’.

The conversations were advanced. Not surprisingly, the player, who wanted to work with Dorival Júnior again, even visited CT Dr. Joaquim Grava. However, after reaching an agreement with São Paulo, the Corinthians board reevaluated the deal and understood that the values involved did not fit into the club’s budget.

The problem was not just the R$1 million in cash that Timão should pay for the midfielder’s loan, but mainly the clauses contained in the operation. There was a bonus of R$1.5 million in case of targets achieved and a fine, in the amount of R$2 millionif Alisson was listed for games against Tricolor. The purchase option was stipulated in 2.5 million euros (R$ 15.5 million).

Furthermore, it weighed against the fact that the player could not be registered in the Paulista Championshipsince he already played for São Paulo in the State. The competition regulations do not allow a player to defend two different teams in the same edition.

The Corinthians board still does not consider the deal ruled out. However, a possible resumption of talks is conditional on a change of stance on the part of São Paulo. Under current circumstances, the operation is unlikely to be completed.

The Morumbis club, in turn, puts its foot behind the scenes and does not give up the amount of R$1 million in cash. Alisson, in fact, has already been reinstated to the cast and trained normally at CT da Barra Funda this Friday. In a press conference, the coach Hernán Crespo said he will “hug him”.

Corinthians remains in the market and evaluates the possibility of signing another midfielder. In this window, the club has already hired Matheus Pereira, who was at Fortaleza, and carried out surveys for Vinicius Souza, from Wolfsburge Allan, from Flamengo.
