He never managed to get up. This Friday evening, Zakaria Hamou competed in his 5th professional fight during Arès 38 at the Adidas Arena. A duel against the German Abubakar Khasiev which ended short, a blow to the Frenchman’s parts having ended the confrontation in the first round.
This fight was promising, however, with very intense kick exchanges in the first seconds. A first knee strike from the German in the shell which protects the genitals, however, forced the referee to take a short break, before the duel resumed.
It was at the end of a long phase of control against Zakaria Hamou’s cage that the fatal blow was delivered. A new knee strike which this time completely dried out the one we nicknamed “Tarzan”. Screaming in pain, the Ile-de-France resident remained lying on the ground for many minutes, unable to get up. After the authorized five minutes of rest, he assured the doctor that he was unfit to resume the fight, so the referee announced a “no contest”, a fight without a winner. Lifted by his coaches, the native of Colombes finally left the cage on a wheelchair.
This is not the first time that we have seen such a result. Last October, while fighting for the UFC heavyweight title against Tom Aspinall, Ciryl Gane also experienced a “no contest” because of a finger in the eye which prevented the Englishman from continuing the fight. Three months later, he still complains of eye problems.
