The senior women’s and men’s teams of Ingenieros de Soria CR face this Saturday, January 31, a demanding league match at the CDM David Cañada in Zaragoza, where they will face the Fénix Rugby teams in two matches that are presented as an important competitive test for both teams.
The event also comes in an atypical week for the Soria club, which has been conditioned in its preparation by not having been able to train normally in recent days due to the intense snowfall and rain recorded, which have caused flooding on the playing field in Soria, adding an extra point of difficulty to the trip.
The senior women will return to the competition after a week of rest to face the current co-leader of the classification and current champion of the last league.
The match, which will begin at 2:00 p.m., represents a challenge of maximum difficulty against one of the most solid teams in the competition.
In the first leg, played in Los Pajaritos, the Engineers managed to compete head-to-head during the first quarter of the game, even going ahead on the scoreboard, before the reaction of the skilled team decided the match.
For this event, the Soria team arrives with significant casualties, but with the intention of maintaining order, seriousness and competitiveness for as long as possible, seeking to continue growing against a top-level rival and taking advantage of every opportunity that presents itself.
For its part, the senior men’s team, whose match will also be played at 3:30 p.m., will travel to Zaragoza with reinforced confidence after the resounding victory achieved last weekend against Quebrantahuesos, a result that allows the team to continue dreaming of a playoff place.
The challenge will not be easy, since facing them will be the second place in the league, a Fénix Rugby that has a very complete squad, with numerous experienced players who have accumulated minutes in División de Honor B, combined with promising young Aragonese rugby players.
In the first leg, the skilled team had to work hard to advance the match, which reinforces the idea that Ingenieros can compete if they maintain their level. The goal of the Sorianos will be to repeat that solid version, maintain the intensity for the eighty minutes and try to take advantage of their options to return from Zaragoza with a good result.
In addition to the league commitments of the weekend, Ingenieros de Soria will have representation at the regional level, since Alba Aguilera has been called up again by the Castilla y León M17 National Team.
The player will play this Saturday, starting at 2:30 p.m., in the match for fifth and sixth place in the CESa
