Deschamps-Riolo: Riolo Acquitted in Court Case

Justice has ruled. Daniel Riolo was acquitted this Friday as part of the defamation trial brought by Didier Deschamps. The Blues coach notably criticized the editorialist RMC for having qualified him at the beginning of 2023 as a “liar” in his communication on Karim Benzema’s package at the 2022 World Cup.

The trial, where both men were present in November, was marked by intense opposition between the two parties. Didier Deschamps had called as a witness the doctor of the French football team, Franck Le Gall, as well as the security officer of the Blues, Mohamed Sanhadji. Daniel Riolo had added to the file a recording, made after the filing of a complaint by the technician, the boss of the Aspetar clinic in Doha, Hakim Chalabi.
