With these two achievements, he signs his 12th and 13th goals in seven Champions League matches this season, enough to get even closer to Cristiano Ronaldo’s single-season record. The Portuguese scored 17 goals during the 2013-2014 financial year with Real Madrid.
Certainly, the five-time Ballon d’Or had established this record during the old format of the Champions League, with fewer matches, but that does not take away from the strong impression that Mbappé has made since the start of the season when he sets foot on European lawns.
Currently 6th among the top scorers in the history of the Champions League with 68 goals, the Frenchman is gradually getting closer to Raul (yet another Real Madrid player) who occupies 5th place having scored 71 times in his career.
This did not prevent Real, reduced to 9 at the end of the match after the red cards of Rodrygo and Asencio, from losing, therefore, and leaving the Top 8. The Madrilenians will have to go through the play-offs where they will be opposed to Bodo Glimt or… Benfica, their tormentors of the evening.
