Harun Erdenay and Semih Erden will hold the draw for the FIBA ​​U17 Basketball World Cup 2026.
The draw for the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Under-17 (U17) Basketball World Cup 2026 will be held on January 29 at 12:00 at the Basketball Development Center in Istanbul. The legendary names of the Turkish national team, Harun Erdenay and Semih Erden, will take part in the draw that will determine the path of the 16 teams that will compete for the world championship.
The organization will be held in Istanbul between 27 June and 5 July.
Teams participating in the FIBA ​​U17 Basketball World Cup 2026 were divided into four bags, created to reflect the balance of power of the continents in line with the current FIBA ​​Men’s World Rankings presented by Nike and the results of the FIBA ​​2025 U16 Men’s Continental Cups.

Distribution into bags is as follows:
Pot 1: Türkiye, USA, Serbia, Lithuania
Pot 2: Slovenia, Italy, Australia, Canada
Pot 3: France, China, New Zealand, Venezuela
Pot 4: Ivory Coast, Japan, Cameroon, Puerto Rico

The teams in each bag will be distributed into four groups and the competition numbers will be determined. There will be at most 1 team from the continents of Africa, America and Asia/Oceania in the same group. There will be at least 1 and at most 2 teams from Europe in the same group. The USA and Venezuela will not be on the same side of the table.
