Karlsson & Svahn: Olympic Fears Revealed

Our blue-yellow ski stars are charging for the Winter Olympics.
Expectations are also high for the cross-country skiers.
Now both Frida Karlsson and Linn Svahn admit what is the worst.

For four years, our Swedish stars in cross-country skiing have been preparing for this period. Namely the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina when they will be at their very best and write themselves into the Swedish history books.

Karlsson and Svahn

The preparations have been very different for our blue-yellow cross-country skiers. Where Frida Karlsson has had problems with a foot and skipped both the Tour de Ski and several World Cup competitions, the focus in recent weeks has been on high-altitude training.

While Linn Svahn missed large parts of the season due to rehabilitation, foot problems and a cold, so she chose to compete on the last World Cup weekend in Goms, Switzerland. There she won the sprint and comes to the Olympic Games with newfound confidence.

Worst for the Winter Olympics

Now they both reveal what is the worst thing about the Olympic upload, more specifically which training session is the most difficult.
– The strength pass. I’ve really had to work on getting stronger and if you’re not good at something, it’s usually not a lot of fun. But I’ve still learned to think it’s quite fun now because I see a fairly clear development. So I know I need them, but I don’t love going into a gym, says Frida Karlsson for Dagens Nyheter.
– There must be some tough intervals. Very hard but very liberating to succeed, says Linn Svahn.

Even the gentlemen William Poroma and Edwin Anger have had their say on which workouts they love-hate the most.
– It’s the stake machine. I hate it so much. It is terrible, says Poromaa to DN and answers how one motivates oneself for it.
– Yes, how the hell do you do that? It’s just like all training that… Somewhere you know that what hurts usually makes you feel better too.
– It would be like eight times a thousand (meters) with just the threshold, when you only need to add 80 minutes of interval time to the account. It is naybut it’s not fun either. There are many such passports, says Anger
