Marquez’s 2026 MotoGP Rival: Who Is It?

Jakarta

Marc Marquez is wary of one rider who will be his main enemy in the race for the 2026 MotoGP title. As the 2025 MotoGP champion, Marquez believes that it is not Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia or Marco Bezzecchi who will bother him this season, but his younger brother, Alex Marquez.

“The first is Alex, my brother. He finished second last year, so I will answer based on the standings,” Marquez told Sky Italia as quoted on the page CrashSunday (25/1/2026). The names Pecco and Bezzecchi are number one on Marquez’s list of rivals in the 2026 season.

“Then I would include Pecco, who is a two-time world champion and showed his potential (with a double win) in Japan. Then there is Aprilia, who ended the season very well with Bezzecchi and will be difficult to face,” added the Spaniard.

Bezzecchi scored more points than any other rider during the second half of the 2025 season. Meanwhile, Pedro Acosta from KTM finished ahead of Bagnaia, and Bagnaia himself dropped to fifth position at the end of the 2025 MotoGP standings.

When asked about his own hopes, Marquez admitted that the pressure would be enormous to win his eighth MotoGP title. Moreover, currently Marquez is in the best MotoGP team with the perfect motorbike package.

“If you wear the red uniform (Ducati), you have to fight to win the title,” said Marquez. “You are on a team that has won in the last few years, everything is in your hands,” he added.

“We will try to have a good season from the start, but always be ready to face whatever might happen. Our competitors have definitely improved a lot,” said Marquez.
