VfL Osnabrück has lost ground in the tight promotion race of the 3rd football league. For the Osnabrück team it was only enough to draw 1-1 (1-1) against 1860 Munich at their home Bremer Brücke.
Coach Timo Schultz’s team slipped to sixth place behind Rot-Weiss Essen, while 1860 jumped to seventh place thanks to the point gain.
The Munich team (32 points) are now four points behind VfL (36), who took the lead with a header from Bjarke Jacobsen (17th).
However, former national player Kevin Volland (25th) managed to respond quickly with the first chance to score in the sixties. In the second half, Osnabrück had more of the game, but the guests had the most dangerous chances.
3rd league: Rostock with an exclamation mark
In the first game of Sunday, Hansa Rostock made a statement and defended fourth place. Coach Daniel Brinkmann’s team used a superiority at Waldhof Mannheim for more than 60 minutes and clearly won 4-0 (2-0). Jonas Dirkner (12th) gave the guests an early lead. After the yellow-red card for Waldhof attacker Emmanuel Iwe (30th), Andreas Voglsammer (39th), Emil Holten (75th) and Christian Kinsombi (85th) followed up.
