After the important 5:3 success at BC Beuel IIwhich was mainly bagged via the doubles, would have BV Wesel RW his home game against TV Refrath III can actually approach it in a very relaxed manner. But things turned out differently: On the one hand, because the red and white team was prevented from doing so professionally Philip Volovnik and Roluf Schröder as well as Remco Potswho is on his honeymoon, three regular actors were missing. And on the other hand, because the game had to be moved to the North Hall at short notice again because the city of Wesel had a double occupancy in the circular sports hall with the Büdericher SV youth tournament.
“This time the city at least helped us move the referee chairs to the other hall, but there is still a need to talk,” said BV team manager Andreas Ruthwho was happy that BSC Wesel helped his neighbor set it up. “If we actually tackle the Bundesliga issue again and play on mats, a situation like this would become much more complicated.”
Wesel’s young talent is convincing in the regional league duel despite personnel concerns
The change in the hall was not to blame for Weseler’s 3:5 defeat, but the hosts could not completely compensate for the absence of three men. It was almost enough to get a point. Henri Saur/Youri Schwarz made it to the third set in the first doubles, as did Saur in the top singles. Black even won his 3rd singles.
“It was really a pleasure to watch the two of them,” said Ruth about the two young Weseler hopefuls in a “comfortable, narrow” North Hall, in which the BV’s second and third teams also acted in parallel. From this third party celebrated Lukas Gabriel Bortenlänger and Benedict Hochstrat their regional league debut and even sold themselves quite dearly in the second set of their doubles.
