Bayern Munich suffered and fell surprisingly 2-1 at the Allianz Arena stadium against Augsburg, thus ending the Bavarians’ undefeated record in the Bundesliga in 18 games. Luis Díaz started, but was not decisive in his 300th game in Europe.
The Bavarians had a complex match from the start against the Augsburg resistance, which tactically was behaving well to minimize the attack, having to work hard to open the scoring.
To give Bayern relief, the goal came in the 23rd minute through a still ball, after a corner kick, where the Japanese Hiroki Ito managed to head in to give his team the advantage against Augsburg.
The first half ended with just a minimal difference and although Bayern always led, Luis Díaz could not be decisive despite finding one or another space to create danger, but it did not end up being crucial.
Despite the partial defeat, Augsburg remained firm in its game, closing spaces for Bayern and making it uncomfortable on the field.
It seemed that the minimal difference was maintained, but at 75 minutes Augsburg was motivated and found equality with Arthur Chaves, who knew how to finish to surprise the Bavarians.
That goal was a motivation for the visit and generated desperation in Bayern, who, not wanting to lose, went out excessively towards the attack, leaving spaces in their goal.
The Augsburg avalanche could be seen coming and in the 81st minute came the surprising comeback at the Allianz Arena through Han-Noah Massengo, who knew how to control the ball in the area to take a shot that beat Jonas Urbig’s goal for the 2-1 that ended Bayern’s undefeated record in the Bundesliga.
Bayern always tried to go for equality in what little they had left, but Augsburg also took advantage of counterattacks to stay as far away from their field and although they suffered a little more than necessary even with a post from Olise, they ended up holding on for the unprecedented victory.
