The silver category of national badminton raises the curtain this weekend with the start of a new edition of the First National, a key competition within the National League of Badminton Clubs and which in 2026 will present new features in its structure.
The First National will be made up for the first time of four divisions—First Gold, First Silver, First Bronze and Second Gold—, the latter being the great addition of this year. The Second Gold debuts as an official category with the participation of eleven clubs and was created with the objective of strengthening the competitive base of badminton by teams at the state level, expanding the number of entities involved in the national ecosystem.
The calendar gets underway with the first round in the four divisions. Each of these rounds includes three days of competition, two scheduled for Saturday and one more on Sunday. A total of four rounds will be held throughout the 2026 season. The second round of each category is set for the weekend of March 7, while the third will be held on April 18. The outcome will come on the weekend of May 16 and 17, dates on which the fourth and final round will be held and the champions of each division will be crowned.
The First Gold will begin its journey in A Coruña, the scene of the first three days of the course. The category presents a particularly attractive line-up, with the presence of Arjonilla and As Neves, two clubs that competed in the Iberdrola Top 10 last season and that return to the division after falling in the playoff for permanence. Along with them, Granollers also stands out, third in the previous edition of Primera Oro, only surpassed by Hello! Rentacar Astures and Huesca La Magia, both already installed in the top category after achieving promotion.

The Primera Plata will start in Huelva, in a division that presents a notable balance and that will look for new contenders for promotion after the departure of Escola Rosalía Peixes Vimar and Club del Mar de San Amaro, dominators from last season and already established in Primera Oro. In this new year, historic clubs and emerging projects will try to make their way in a traditionally very even competition.

For its part, the First Bronze will begin in La Rinconada, where teams that arrive with the momentum of a previous season marked by emotion until the last day will meet. After the promotions of Tenzul El Rosario and Drop Valencia, the category is renewed and promises an intense fight both in the upper zone and to avoid relegation spots.

The great novelty of the course, the Second Gold, will have its official premiere in Ribadeo. With eleven clubs in the running, this division begins its journey with the challenge of consolidating itself within the national structure and offering a new competitive level for growing entities.
