54 points lead: Knicks achieve record win in the NBA
Nine defeats in eleven games – things haven’t been going well for the ambitious Knicks in the NBA lately. In the city duel with the Nets, of all places, the team achieved a historic club success.
The New York Knicks won the NBA city duel with the Brooklyn Nets hands down and set a record in their long history. The 54-point lead at 120:66 was the clearest victory in the 80 years of its existence. After nine defeats in eleven games, the clear success at Madison Square Garden was a welcome compensation for the fans. “A win. That was the most important thing, just finding a way to break the ice and go for it in the left column,” said Knicks professional Karl-Anthony Towns.
Schröder loses again with the Kings
For the Sacramento Kings around national team captain Dennis Schröder, however, the series of defeats continues. The second-worst team in the Western Conference lost 109:122 at home to the Toronto Raptors, their third defeat in a row. Before this negative run, the Kings had won four games in a row for the only time this season. The hosts were in the lead for a long time against the Raptors, but then gave up their lead in a weak third quarter and never recovered. Schröder came off the bench and scored 16 points in 20 minutes on the field.
The Oklahoma City Thunder had previously won against the Milwaukee Bucks without Isaiah Hartenstein, who still had a calf injury, and consolidated first place in the Western Conference. The defending champion won 122:102, the best thrower was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with 40 points.
