[부산디자인진흥원] Junwoo Jang, CEO of JCover
‘Basketball’ is a sport that makes your whole body drenched in sweat with just one ball. Basketball is called one of the four major ball games, but it is realistically difficult to enjoy the game in everyday life. Basketball, including those who like basketball
To resolve this inconvenience among hobbyists, JCover CEO Jang Jun-woo took on the challenge of starting a business.
‘Besky Time’, which CEO Jang is developing, is divided by time zone and location, and when basketball players apply for a game, they are assigned a team according to their skills. Once a game is reserved, selected managers are assigned to take charge of game rules and operations, allowing you to enjoy basketball smoothly. We met CEO Jang Jun-woo, who is developing the first social basketball platform for basketball enthusiasts in Korea.
Please introduce your startup item.
“To play basketball, it is difficult to gather members first. It is not as popular a sport as soccer, and it is not a sport that can be played with a small number of players like tennis or badminton, so it is always a concern for those who enjoy basketball. To solve that problem, we are developing a player matching platform for basketball lovers.”
It seems like you always like basketball.
“I enjoy playing basketball with my friends, but people have always been a problem. The number of domestic basketball enthusiasts and other players is estimated at over 2 million, and the number of spectators for professional basketball is increasing, but it is difficult for the general public to play basketball.
I was always worried about not having enough people. “As it is a sport that can be played with just a basketball and a goalpost, I came up with a business idea when I saw that the influx of young people was increasing.”
Specifically, how does the service operate?
“The name of the app we are developing is ‘Besky Time’. When you sign up for this app, managers use a system to classify players’ levels into ‘high, middle, and low’. This is a system where subscribers of each level can form teams and enjoy basketball. In the future, we plan to provide a team matching service according to the level of players through AI automatic matching. In addition, anyone using the app can participate, and we plan to implement an emergency personnel recruitment service. In addition, we will be able to make reservations for paid basketball courts operating in each region. “It’s a plan.”
Fans who enjoy playing basketball will be able to play when they want rather than practicing alone on an empty court.
“If you reserve an indoor basketball court that can be used on a desired date and time through the platform, you can play a game only for the users who gather. Even if there is no team, a team is formed through an automatic matching system, and scheduled games are played every time.
A manager will be assigned to guide you through the rules and lead the game.”
How do you select managers?
“Managers also receive support and are selected through the app. In order to judge the skills of members, they must know the rules of basketball well and have a certain level of skill.”
What is paid to the selected manager?
“We haven’t set a specific amount, but we plan to pay per game. We will also pay for the manager’s clothing.”
What is Besky Time’s differentiation strategy?
“First of all, we increase the efficiency of game management and understand the level of players through the manager system.
are you. If the skill gap is too high or too low, it is not easy to enjoy it even though you go to exercise. So, if you enjoy playing basketball with people of similar skill level, satisfaction will increase, and we expect this to have the effect of encouraging users to visit the app again.”
Are there similar platforms for other sports?
“Representative examples include soccer and futsal matching platforms. We are lucky enough to make reservations at futsal fields affiliated with the platform.
It’s getting stronger. Tennis also has a matching and court reservation platform, but basketball currently does not have one. ‘hemp cloth
Once ‘Ski Time’ is developed, both street basketball and basketball centers will be available, and basketball matching will also be available.
“I expect it to be systematized.”
It must not have been easy to propose a new service for the sport of basketball.
“For Beski Time’s service to operate well, affiliated basketball centers are necessary and important. Regional basketball centers
We are working hard to form partnerships with affiliates, but as the service is currently not yet released, we have to sign a firm contract with the affiliate.
It is true that it is difficult to establish a relationship.”
What are your future plans?
“After completing the development of Beski Time, we plan to promote it to basketball enthusiasts and basketball centers.
Once purified, we plan to expand to other sports such as baseball, bowling, and table tennis.”
