Kobe Stokes announced on January 22 that they have signed a new contract with Luke Maye. Additionally, it was announced that the contract with Raul Alkins has been terminated by mutual agreement. Alkins will be placed on the free agent list on the same day.
Born in the United States, May, 28 years old, is a 203cm, 106kg small forward and power forward. After starting his professional career mainly in Europe from the prestigious University of North Carolina, he joined the Ibaraki Robots in the 2024-25 season. He then transferred to the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins. He has a reputation for his scoring ability, averaging 20.9 points at Ibaraki and 11.9 points at Nagoya D. Kobe, who is leading the West Division, has aggressively strengthened their team.
Born in the United States, Alkins, 28 years old, is a 198 cm, 102 kg small forward and guard. He started his professional career with the Bulls in the 2018-19 season. After that, he joined Kobe this season after playing in Portugal, Germany, and the G League. He has appeared in all 30 games so far, averaging 12.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in 21.49 minutes of playing time.
General Manager Yamato Kuri introduced the team, saying, “May played for B1’s Nagoya D last season, and in addition to his excellent outside shooting ability, he is a very attractive player who can carry the ball himself from rebounds and score points.” He spoke about his determination regarding this change. “It was a difficult decision for us as a club, but we hope to prove through the second half that we made the right decision.”
May made the following comment through the club upon joining. “I hope to do my best and play my best to help bring Kobe a championship.”
