It is next Friday, May 8, at the Coca-Cola Coliseum, that the Toronto Tempo will play its very first game in the WNBA. The Washington Mystics will be the visitors for the occasion.
The WNBA confirmed the schedule for the first week of the 2026 season on Wednesday, which will include three Tempo games. In addition to its opening game, the Toronto team will host the Seattle Storm on Wednesday, May 13, before facing the Sparks in Los Angeles on Friday, May 15.
As announced by Le Tempo last fall, the WNBA has formalized the organization of two games at the Bell Center in Montreal and two others at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver during the season. The exact dates will be confirmed later. The Scotiabank Arena in Toronto will host three games.
Toronto got its WNBA team in May 2024. Its owners include names like former tennis player Serena Williams, Larry Tanenbaum, one of the shareholders of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, as well as the owner of the Montreal Canadiens, Geoff Molson, and the president, sports and entertainment of Groupe CH, France Margaret Bélanger.
