The Catalunya Master Territorial Granollers has been the starting point of the Auria Bádminton Club in the new year, with the participation of Adrián Carabali in the under-19 category and Nerea Padrón in the under-15 category. The two players took part in the individual competition and in the doubles category, Adrián Carabali won the gold medal with his partner Quim Garsaball, a player from the Bellaterra club.
The Auria Badminton Club expedition, together with coach Oliver Gausmann, traveled to Catalonia on Friday, and it was on Saturday morning when the competition began at the Congost Municipal Pavilion, in Granollers. Adrián Carabali and Nerea Padrón competed in the individual competition in their respective categories and also in the doubles category.
Adrián Carabali played the men’s doubles with Quim Garsaball and the competition was held under the direct elimination system. In the quarterfinals they beat Didac Comas and Hugo Durán (21-17, 21-16), and in the semifinals they beat Pau Amaya and Adriá Liria (21-19, 21-19). Their rivals in the final, Héctor Flores and Amer Hassan, did not appear, which allowed them to win the gold medal.
Individual category
In the individual competition, Adrián Carabali started as the fourth seed in the tournament, and in the group stage he achieved victory against Nico Plaza (18-21, 21-15, 21-10) and Adriá Liria (21-13, 21-12), and was defeated in his first match against Magno Salas (5-21, 10-21).
For her part, Nerea Padrón competed in the Catalunya Master Territorial Granollers in the female under-15 category. The Auria Badminton club player closed her participation with a victory against Melani Mena (21-19, 21-19), and losses against Clara Granado (6-21, 15-21), second seed in the tournament, and Isabella Pascual (9-21, 8-21). Furthermore, in the women’s doubles she was paired with Martina Palacios, a player from the Granollers club.
A weekend in which the badminton modality of the Island Sports Promotion Games began in Lanzarote, organized by the Island Sports Service of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. On the first day that took place at the IES Puerto del Carmen, the Auria Badminton Club had 26 players participating.
Amaia Camacho, Guillermo Padrón, Hongwu Shi, Juan Arranz, Isaac Rincón, Luis Garzón, Gemma Eiriz, Claudia Abad, Lucía Reyes, Kaiwen Shi, Álvaro Guadalupe, Hugo de la Paz Paradas, Valeria Cruz, Jacob López, Aitami Fernández, David Rodríguez, Raúl Morales, Ciro Radulovich, Ángel Hugo Arbelo, Vaibhav Udhani, Yraya García, Silvia María Vilas, Lucía Rincón, Alexander Cruz, Patricia Vargas and Jose Antonio Hernández, were the club players who participated in the first day of the Insular Sports Promotion Games.
