The company Tenfield delivered today to the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) your response and equaled the last of the batches of the tender for Uruguayan football television rights that was still open. In this way, the entire process that began in September and that generated a new commercial context for Uruguayan football was closed.
La UP He divided all his products into eight lotsthe services it sells and those it contracts so that Uruguayan football and all the Association’s competitions can be seen on the screen.
Tenfield had been left with four of the eight products: streaming rights; advertising and merchandising, commercial production and audiovisual production.
The rest were in the hands of eight other companies that began to participate in the TV rights of local soccer. Those companies were: Tournaments/Directv (it stayed with cable+open TV), the consortium Team Click-Antel (foreign rights), Mediapro (betting market) and the consortium Telecom/GMC/Conosur (rights for other AUF competitions).
On the last day of December, the AUF reported an error in the tender. He reported that he had awarded the rights to the audiovisual production (all the content that reaches the screen) erroneously to La Corte and that, although Tenfield matched the proposal in a timely manner, at that time the pre-award passed to the Torneos/Directv consortium, which had made an offer US$ 800.000 more beneficial for the AUF.
With the wild card of the equalization clause, Tenfield was notified of the error and of a new period of 10 business days to respond if he stayed with the audiovisual production by agreeing to receive a lower payment for the 800 games he will produce during the year.
This Monday before the 18th hour, the Tenfield company notified the AUF that it will match that amount.
With that equalization, Tenfield will stay with audiovisual production.
Torneos/Directv is the company that took over the rights to cable and open television, which Tenfield had from 1999 to 2025, after committing to pay US$31,800,000 per year.
Tenfield kept the streaming rights to Uruguayan soccer in exchange for US$17,500,000.
Now the AUF will send the companies that won in each of the areas the contracts that will bind them for four years.
Companies have up to 30 days to respondbut it is the aspiration of the AUF, due to the urgency of the times, to sign the contracts in the coming days because on February 1 the first match will be played, under the new commercial agreements, the Uruguayan Super Cup in which Nacional will face Peñarol.
The 2026 Apertura Tournament will begin on Friday, January 6.
