São Paulo beat Botafogo 3-1 this Monday, at the Walter Ribeiro Municipal Stadium, in Sorocaba, in the quarter-finals of the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, and secured a place in the semi-finals of the competition.
The winning goals for Tricolor were scored by midfielder Djhordney and striker Matheus Menezes, in addition to Paulinho, who scored a great goal from the defense field in second-half stoppage time. On the other side, Arthur Izaque scored for Botafogo.
Confrontation situation
With the victory, Tricolor will face Ibrachina in the Copinha semi-final. The team eliminated Palmeiras on penalties, also this Monday, in the quarter-finals of the competition.

How was the game?
First half
The initial stage was marked by many fouls between Botafogo and São Paulo. The high number of infractions was reflected in yellow cards: three for the Rio club and two for Tricolor.
In the 34th minute, Lucyan took a risk from outside the area and was in danger, but the shot went close and only scared Botafogo goalkeeper Rhyan Luca.
In stoppage time, in a set piece, Djhordney rose well into the area and headed into the corner, surprising Glorioso’s goalkeeper and opening the scoring for São Paulo.
Second half
In the final stage, Arthur Izaque appeared free in the area and hit a volley into the corner in the 11th minute, tying the match for Botafogo with a beautiful goal. The Rio team began to occupy more of the attacking field, but São Paulo returned to the lead at 38. After a cross in the area, Igor Felisberto deflected and Matheus Menezes appeared free to complete the ball into the back of the net.
In search of a draw, at 49, Botafogo launched an attack and even took goalkeeper Rhyan Luca to the opponent’s area during a corner kick. However, it was Paulinho who took advantage of the move. After the São Paulo defense was cut and with the goal empty, the captain sent the ball from the other side of the field into the back of the net, closing the score for Tricolor.
