The “Greens” remain on a honorable participation in the African Cup nations CAN-2025,
reaching the quarter-finals of the event, before losing to Nigeria (2-0).
During the group stage, the national team performed flawlessly by achieving three successes, in as many matches: against Sudan (3-0), Burkina Faso (1-0) and Equatorial Guinea (3-1), before eliminating DR Congo in the round of 16 (1-0, after extra time).
On the continental levelthe Algerian selection occupies the fourth place, with 1560.91 points notably ahead of Egypt (31st) and the 2024 African champion Ivory Coast (42nd). The best progress can be attributed to Cameroon, which gained 12 places (45th).
For his part, Senegal crowned African champion 2025, Sunday evening at the expense of the host country (1-0, after extra time), gained 7 places (12th).
At the top of the world rankings, Spain remains in first place, ahead of Argentina, one of Algeria’s opponents in the first round of the 2026 World Cup, and France. Croatia left the Top 10 (11th).
The national team’s two other opponents at the 2026 World Cup: Austria and Jordan, are in 24th and 64th place respectively.
The next edition of the FIFA rankings will be published on Wednesday April 1.
