LeBron James’ streak, which has been selected as an All-Star starter in the NBA since the 2004-2005 season, ended after 21 years.
According to the NBA’s statement, the All-Star reserves will be announced later. National basketball player Alperen Şengün, who plays for Houston Rockets and was selected as an All-Star last season, received 871 thousand 952 votes in the last announced voting. Şengün was ranked 10th in the Western Conference with this number of votes.
The first five players in the All-Stars are selected by fans (50 percent of the votes), current NBA players (25 percent) and the media (25 percent), while the remaining 14 names are determined by NBA head coaches.
New format in 2026
All-Star in the NBA will be held with a new format this year. Two teams consisting of US players and a World Mixed Team will compete in the organization.
After three teams face each other in 12-minute matches, the two best teams will take the field for the championship in the fourth and final match. There will be at least eight players in each of the three teams and 12 basketball players will be selected from each of the two conferences.
There will be no position limitation in All-Star selections this year.
If the number of 16 American and eight international players is not reached in the voting, NBA President Adam Silver will step in to ensure balance.
