Vietnamese Badminton: 2026 Indonesia Open Participation

Ranked 23rd in the world, Nguyen Thuy Linh was not seeded in the women’s singles tournament.

Thuy Linh participated in two consecutive major international tournaments in January.

For her first match, the Vietnamese number one will face Lin Hsiang Ti of Chinese Taipei, currently ranked 21st in the world.

If she beats Lin Hsiang Ti, Thuy Linh will face the winner of the match between Beiwen Zhang (USA, world No. 29) and Chiu Pin Chian (Chinese Taipei, world No. 15) in the second round.

Thuy Linh defeated the former world number 1 at the 2025 World Championships.

The Indonesia Open 2026 badminton tournament is also the second consecutive tournament Thuy Linh is participating in in January.

Thuy Linh had an impressive start to 2026 by beating former world number one, Indian Pusarla V. Sindhu (world champion in 2019, Olympic gold medalist in 2016 and bronze medalist in 2020), in the first round of the women’s singles of the 2026 Badminton India Open (BWF World Tour Super 750). She was then eliminated in the second round by the Chinese Wang Zhi Yi, world number two.
