Rebecca Caplehorn: Tottenham to Premier League Role

Rebecca Caplehorn, head of administration and football governance at Tottenham, has left the club for a role with the Premier League.

The Athletic have reported that she will join the Premier League as its chief football officer at the end of the winter transfer window.

Rebecca Caplehorn dealt with football governance across the entirety of Tottenham, including the women’s team.

She was promoted to the role in 2020, five years after joining Tottenham from Queens Park Rangers.

She was involved in transfer and contract negotiations and held talks with Martin Ho before he was appointed as head coach last summer.

Ho said discussions with the club’s leadership team, including Caplehorn, was a positive influence behind his decision to take on the Tottenham job.

Tottenham have taken huge strides under Ho and sit fourth in the WSL, level on points with Arsenal, after finishing second from bottom last season.

Caplehorn and the leadership team have had a busy January with several high-profile signings, including Signe Gaupset from SK Brann and Julie Blakstad.

Caplehorn has also got connections with the WSL. She was part of a joint FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship (now WSL 2) Board, which was formed in 2019.

Caplehorn’s departure is one of many changes at Tottenham over the past 12 months.

In April, Spurs appointed Vinai Venkatesham as their chief executive officer.  In the summer, chief football officer Scott Munn left his role and long-serving executive director Donna Maria-Cullen also stepped down.

Then, in September, executive chairman Daniel Levy left the club after nearly a quarter of a century in charge.

Fabio Paratici, one of Tottenham’s co-sporting directors alongside Johan Lange, will also leave the club at the end of the winter transfer window for Italian side Fiorentina.

Tottenham Women will keep an eye on Monday’s FA Cup drawafter beating Leicester City 3-0 at the weekend.

Ho’s side will return to WSL action on Sunday when they face a Liverpool side who are winless in the league, but have made six signings in their bid to improve.
