The NFL Super Bowl will be played on Sunday, February 8th at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Officials announced Sunday (January 18) that Green Day, a rock band from the San Francisco Bay Area, will perform at the opening ceremony.
According to an NFL release, the Young Ages “will kick off Super Bowl 60 with a passionate performance of classic rock hits to welcome the all-time Super Bowl MVP.”
Lead vocalist Billy Joe Armstrong said, “We’re so excited to kick off the Super Bowl 60th anniversary celebration in our hometown! It’s an honor to bring together the MVPs who have graced the sport and kick off this special night for fans around the world. Have fun! Let’s get the party started!”
The pre-game performance lineup reportedly includes Charlie Puth, Brandi Carlisle and Coco Jones. Charlie Puth will sing the National Anthem, Brandi Carlyle will sing “America the Beautiful” and Coco Jones will sing “Lift Every Voice!” Additionally, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny will headline the halftime show.
