Stefan Kuntz withdraws stalking complaint
Even before the allegations against ex-HSV board member Stefan Kuntz became public, he had filed a complaint about stalking. But now he has changed his mind.
Stefan Kuntz has withdrawn his complaint against unknown persons. The Hamburg public prosecutor’s office confirmed this at the request of the DPA news agency. The “Hamburger Morgenpost” first reported on it. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the previous sports director of the Bundesliga club Hamburger SV filed the complaint on December 12th “due to the accusation of stalking.”
“The withdrawal of the complaint has no consequences for the proceedings,” said a spokeswoman for the DPA public prosecutor’s office. Since it is a so-called official crime, the investigations are carried out ex officio.
Stefan Kuntz rejects allegations
Allegations against the 63-year-old Kuntz of alleged misconduct in connection with his unexpected departure from HSV at the end of the year were recently made public. The former national player contradicted the allegations. “First of all, I would like to say that the allegations hit me hard. One thing is clear: I firmly reject these allegations!” it said in a statement on the ex-professional’s official Instagram profile.
Why he has now withdrawn the complaint is unknown. Kuntz was contacted for a statement through his lawyers.
On Monday, the HSV supervisory board announced that Kuntz’s departure was related to allegations of alleged misconduct by the 1996 European champion. Family reasons were officially stated when the separation was announced on December 31, 2025.
