The models were quietly envious. Only fitness coach David Vydra had a hard time about it. He watched Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova like an eye in his head.
Former tennis player Petra Kvitová has stood in front of photographers’ lenses countless times, even though she never considered herself a model. However, she probably took the most daring pictures in 2018 for Elle magazine with photographer Radka Leitmeritz. The photo was taken at the oldest tennis club in Prague on Letná in the style of the 80s. A white headband, plain white sneakers and an old duralumin racket. Really stylish.
No prima donna
Only if we exclude the white points that Petra was wearing. She probably wouldn’t have started any matches in that. But the intention was clear. To show Petra’s athletic figure and long legs. So it was necessary for the purposes of the photo shoot. At that time, Kvitová also showed that she has to suffer for beautiful photos and that she is no prima donna. On a hot summer day, she literally had to roll around in the clay in only a tank top and shorts.
That’s Kvitova in the picture btw, from a photoshoot with Elle Czech back in 2018

The photos turned out really well and Kvitová was indistinguishable from the models. It also helped her to lose a lot of weight. So much so that there has been speculation about whether she suffers from an eating disorder. Fitness coach David Vydra took her to the show. He, too, heard from all sides how it suited Petra tremendously. With the weight down, the tennis queen went too fast, and so it also raised some doubts about her health. Otter even admitted that he was afraid.
Kvitova lost weight
But she underwent all the examinations, which showed that everything was in the best order. However, the team around Kvitová kept a close eye on her. After all, after such a loss of weight in combination with the performed performances, she had to be guarded. At 182 cm, Kvitová weighed under 70 kilos, which was the lowest weight she had ever had as a tennis player. The weight loss also had a positive effect on her self-confidence, so Vydra was also afraid that the weight would not drop even more. He described the whole process in detail for iSport.cz.
He monitored everything carefully and adjusted the program according to how she felt. If Kvitová was not 100 percent fit, she might not even have started training. The famous fitness trainer was quite forceful about these things. At that time, Petra was even less prone to injury. Vydra also speculated at the time that the half-year break after the assault, when she was healing her cut hand, might have helped her. According to him, she didn’t even have match stress for a long time, which could also have a positive effect on her.
Today he is already enjoying a sports pension. Together with their coach Jiří Vaňek, they are raising a son, Peter, who was born to them in 2024. Now Kvitová is pregnant again.
