“Who can help me find places? I can’t take it anymore”, “looking for two tickets, urgent”, “I need a ticket for this match”: on social networks, the public is panicking 72 hours before the final of the 2025 African Cup of Nations between Morocco and Senegal.
Scheduled for this Sunday, January 18 at 8 p.m. at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium in Rabat, the last round of the competition should be played in an incandescent atmosphere. And to say, the Atlas Lions, at home, will play their first final in 22 years in the competition, and the Teranga Lions are looking for their second coronation, five years after the first. As the big event approaches, spectators are snapping up the last few precious tickets remaining on the market. But how to get them?
On the official CAN 2025 ticket office, it is no longer possible to obtain seats for the final, the final sales phase having already ended. However, people looking for a ticket continue to crowd there, forcing the creation of a queue on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) website.
This Thursday afternoon, the body was already putting tickets back on sale for the small final, scheduled for Saturday afternoon (5 p.m.) between Egypt and Nigeria. It remains to be seen whether she will do the same for the grand finale the next day. Otherwise, you will have to go through the “black market” to obtain tickets.
Beware of scams
The first and most risky way is to obtain tickets directly on site through illegal resellers present around Moroccan stadiums. On December 31, while the competition was in full swing, more than 110 people were arrested for “illegal sale”, “ticket falsification”, “attack on automated data processing systems”, “fraud” or even “dissemination of false information relating” to the continental tournament.
The second solution, still risky but more reasonable, is to look for tickets through social networks. Demand is strong, but so is supply. It is thus possible, according to Internet users’ announcements, to recover one or more tickets for 200 to 500 euros per piece depending on the wide range observed on X (formerly Twitter). The threat exists and some buyers are already denouncing scams by accounts which, once the scam is carried out, are deleted by their owner to avoid being traced.
It is possible to transfer a ticket to the ticket office
On unofficial online resale platforms, prices reach 700 euros for the cheapest tickets, and sometimes even exceed 3,000 euros for intermediate seats. Prices that are completely indecent compared to those set by the price list established by CAF before the competition. It provided for three categories of places for the final: the lowest at 38 euros, the intermediate at 56 euros and the highest at 84 euros.
In the event of a stolen ticket purchase for the CAN 2025 final, the most reliable solution remains to have the seats transferred via a function on the official ticketing website. To do this, the seller must provide the buyer’s email address as well as their FAN ID, an essential step which requires the spectator to provide an identity document before being able to enter the stadiums. One thing is certain: the last supporters without a ticket will have to put their hands in their wallets if they want to be able to attend the biggest meeting in African football.
