Santos vs Guarani: Coaching Chaos & Upcoming Match

O Guarani fired Matheus Costa this Wednesday morning (14), after the defeat to Novorizontino2-0, in Novo Horizonte, but he backtracked hours later and kept the coach for the remainder of the Paulista Championship.

According to the report, the Bugrina board informed Matheus Costa of his dismissal in the morning. In Curitiba to celebrate his 39th birthday with his family, the coach was called back to Campinas.

By determination of investor Roberto Graziano, Guarani’s board went back and will continue with Matheus Costa leading the reserve bench.

Bugre’s next game in Paulistão will be on Sunday (18), against Santosat 8:30 pm (Brasília time), at the Brinco de Ouro da Princesa Stadium, for the third round.

At Guarani since July last year, Matheus Costa started the season under pressure from the fans after failing to gain access to the Brazilian Series C.

The pressure increased after the performances in the first two rounds of Paulistão: draw with Primavera, 1-1, in Campinas, and defeat by Novorizontino, 2-0, in Novo Horizonte.

In all, Matheus Costa has five wins, four draws and four defeats in 13 matches as coach of Guarani.
