The prizes in eventing remain derisory in comparison with those in show jumping. However, major event organizers regularly send positive signals to high-level eventing stakeholders. Thus, those of the Badminton Horse Trials, considered the most prestigious of the seven CCI 5*-L registered on the calendar of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) announced this morning that the prize pool for the 2026 edition would reach 451,500 pounds Sterling, or a little more than 520,000 euros according to the exchange rate in force on January 14. The winning couple will receive 125,000 pounds, or more than 144,000 euros. “This is fantastic news”declares Rosalind Canter, title holder. “Badminton is the competition that everyone knows and that we all desperately want to win. I can’t wait to go back and try my luck again.”
The 2026 edition of this immense English classic will be held from May 6 to 10 on the Dukes of Beaufort estate. “We are delighted to have been able to increase the prize pool for what promises to be an excellent and exciting new competition.”comments Jane Tuckwell, director of Badminton Horse Trials. “The standard was so high last year that we can’t wait to welcome everyone back for what promises to be another great sporting weekend. Maybe we’ll even see the future world champion in action!”
