Sweden’s Paralympic Committee expands the blue-yellow squad for the Paralympics in Italy, which will be decided in March.
In addition to Arnt-Christian Furuberg, who grew up in western Värmland but now lives in Falun, the squad is growing with two more cross-country skiers in the form of Ellen Westerlund and Alice Morelius. All three are debutants.
“It makes me very happy and proud to be able to introduce three debutants to the Swedish squad. It’s been over 20 years since we had such a large cross-country team at the Paralympics, which proves that our long-term investments are starting to pay off,” says Swedish squad manager Niclas Grön in a press release.
Alpine skier Arvid Skoglund, who made his debut in 2022, also gets a ticket. It also goes to the national team in wheelchair curling, which consists of Viljo Petersson Dahl (skipper), Kristina Ulander, Ronny Persson, Sabina Johansson and Marcus Holm. All but Holm were on the team that took silver in Beijing four years ago.
Holm has participated in six Paralympics, but then as a player in para hockey.
Since before, Ebba Årsjö (alpine), Aaron Lindström (alpine) and Zebastian Modin (cross-country skiing), with guide Emil Talsi, have been selected.
The Paralympics are decided March 6–15.
