MANCHESTER – The legendary Sir Alex Ferguson is going through a really difficult time.
And this does not only apply to his beloved Manchester United, which is experiencing a game crisis that culminated in the departure of coach Rúben Amorim. Most recently, the 84-year-old Scot has to deal with a great loss.
Ferguson is publicly known to be an avid fan of horses in which he has invested huge sums of money. Sir Alex has his own stable that competes in the most famous horse competitions. His horses have already won several important races, for example at the Cheltenham Festival or the International Trophy.
It is estimated that Ferguson owns up to 30 horses, but now he has to deal with the loss of one of the best, having lost Kalif du Berlais, who was killed in the race after crashing into a fence.
Devastated by the loss of Kalif du Berlais today. He was a beautiful horse who had already brought so much joy to his owners and our team, crowned by a brilliant victory at Aintree last year. “We are saddened by the passing of Kalif du Berlais. He was a wonderful horse who brought much joy to his owners and our team, crowned by a brilliant win at Aintree last year. He showed tremendous talent and a promising future.
We were lucky enough to train him at Ditcheat. Our deepest sympathies go out to his owners, Ged Mason, Sir Alex Ferguson, the Hales family, Paul Hogarth and Peter Done, as well as our team who cared for him. Racing can be excruciatingly difficult at times.” said the poor horse’s trainer Paul Nicholls.
To make matters worse, Ferguson was not pleased with Manchester United’s FA Cup match against Brighton on Sunday, which the Red Devils lost 1:2 in front of his eyes. It would be very interesting indeed to know what this unique Scottish manager thinks about the current crisis at Old Trafford.
