Borussia Mönchengladbach won comfortably 4-0 against FC Augsburg on Sunday afternoon (January 11, 2026) to start the year.
The goals for the foals were scored by Joe Scally (8th), Kevin Diks (20th) and Haris Tabakovic (36th/61st). „Borussia.de“ collected the votes for the game after the final whistle, which you can read here:
Tabaković: “Now it’s time to build on this performance”
Florian Neuhaus: “We are overjoyed that we started the new year like this and achieved a deserved 4-0 win. We are also very happy with the way we performed. We had very good control of the ball, played very variably and scored the goals at the right moments. In the second half we played the whole thing down confidently.”
Haris Tabakovic: “Our start to the year was incredibly good. To be able to play this difficult game so confidently with the fans behind us is great. We did very well from the first minute and played it down very solidly. We start the year with three games in one week, so the win was very important. Now it’s time to build on this performance on Wednesday in Hoffenheim.”
Rocco Reitz: “We are very pleased with the victory and that we kept a clean sheet. It feels good to achieve a confident victory. That was definitely a small exclamation point and shows that we can score a lot of goals.”
Reitz continued: “Our use of chances was very good, but you have to work for it first. We implemented our match plan very well. In particular, the more active pushing out worked well in some phases of the game. We have to keep that up in the coming games.”
Coach Eugen Polanski: “That’s exactly how we wanted to start the year: very powerful and with a lot of actions in the opponent’s penalty area, which we used very well. We played with a lot of energy, especially in the first half.”
And further: “Above all, we did a good job of defending forward – i.e. going through courageously, forcing the opponent to play long balls and engaging them in many duels. There was a short phase in the first half in which we briefly fell back into the old pattern. But in the second half we showed a very decent performance again.” (fr)
