Italy Wins Gold: Speed Skating European Championships 2024

Ghiotto, Giovannini and Malfatti beat Holland. Lollobrigida fifth on 3 thousand meters

The Italian speed skating team reaches the top step of the podium at the European single distance championships. Less than a month before the Milan Cortina Games, on the ice of the Lodowa Arena in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, Poland, the trio of Davide Ghiotto, Andrea Giovannini and Michele Malfatti won gold in the team pursuit ahead of the Netherlands and Norway with a time of 3’40″960. For Italy it is the third European title in history on single distances, the first after eight years of fasting. Francesca Lollobrigida finished fifth in the 3,000 meters, which was won by Norway’s Ragne Wiklundli.
